Reacciones a la muerte de Whitney Houston

Según las primeras noticias de las agencias internacionales;

"Whitney Houston fue declarada muerta a las 15:55 hora local de Los Ángeles, en el Hotel Beverly Hilton de Beverly Hills. Una persona de su entorno había avisado poco antes a los servicios de asistencia de que había sido hallada inconsciente en la bañera. Los intentos de reanimarla fracasaron. El teniente de la policía Mark Rosen ha asegurado ante la prensa que "no había signos evidentes de criminalidad" y que se está investigando las causas de la muerte.

La cantante había reservado una habitación en ese hotel porque tenía pensado acudir a la fiesta que había organizado allí el productor musical Clive Davis por la noche, un evento anual que reúne a muchas estrellas de la canción y que se celebra en la víspera de la gala de entrega de los premios Grammy. La madre de la artista, Cissy Houston, dijo que había hablado con su hija minutos antes de que fuera hallada inerme en su cuarto y manifestó que no percibió nada fuera de lo normal. Houston nació en 1963 en Nueva Jersey, en una familia de sólidas raíces musicales. Su madre, la cantante gospel Cissy Houston, era prima de Dionne Warwick, una de las grandes damas del soul y el pop en Estados Unidos. La llamada reina del soul, Aretha Franklin, fue la madrina de nacimiento de Houston. De niña cantó en su iglesia, de afiliación baptista, dando pruebas de su potente voz a edad muy temprana"

Una relación tormentosa, una dependencia a cualquier tipo de droga o adicción, la fama, la inestabilidad...en una persona con la sensibilidad muy desarrollada pero con unas fuerzas mermadas, tienen un resultado complejo. Quizás, fuera el caso de Houston. Más allá de sus dramas personales, su estilo y esa voz prodigiosa para el soul, nos han proporcionado grandes placeres a los que la hemos disfrutado.
